SYSTEMATIC APPROACH TO TEACHING
In systematic approach to teaching, the focus of systematic instructional planning is the student. It begins with the objectives of this systematized instruction which consider the students’ needs, interest and readiness. With their objectives, the teacher chooses or selects the appropriate and effective teaching methods to be used in teaching the students. Next, the teacher also chooses appropriate learning experiences so that, the students can learn out of it. After that, is to select the appropriate materials, equipment and facilities to have a smooth transition in the classroom. The students can learn a lot of things if the equipment, materials and facilities are well organized. After selecting materials, equipment and facilities, we can now have the assigning personnel roles to assist the teacher. The effective use of the learning resources depends on the expertise of the teacher, and the involvement of the students in the learning process. Next is to implement the instructions so that the students have the guide or basis what they will do. After you implement the instructions, you should have to evaluate outcomes, it is important to have an evaluation to your students to test if they really understand what you have discussed to them. It is the basis if the instructional objectives was attained, the teacher proceed to the next lesson going through the same cycle once more, the teacher just refine the process.
DIRECT, PURPOSEFUL EXPERIENCES AND BEYOND
As defined in the textbook, direct purposeful experiences are the concrete and first hand experiences that make up foundation of our learning. These are also the rich experiences that our senses bring from which we construct the ideas, the concepts the generalizations that give meaning and order to our lives. In the direct experience it is our own experience that we did or what we are planned to do that thing. It is the direct activities that we are doing every day.
In contrast of the direct experiences, is the indirect experiences, these are experiences of the other people that we observed, read or just hear about. They are not firsthand but rather vicarious experiences.
In our direct experiences, it must not be the end, but we must brought it to a higher plane. It is called direct experiences because we've done it experiences with a purpose.
TEACHING WITH CONTRIVED EXPERIENCES
In this lesson, we can learn a lot of things. Contrived experiences are the edited copies of reality and are used as substitutes for real things when it is not practical or not possible to bring or do the real thing in the classroom. The contrived experiences are designed to simulate to real-life situation. The contrived experiences referred to the models, mock-up, specimens and objects, simulation, and games. It is a big help for the teachers to have a concrete objects to teach the learners. With the help of the contrived experiences, the students can learn more because they will not just imagine the things that the teacher teach them but they can see it through the models. It can also make the learner not be bored during discussions of the teacher because of the object they seen. It is also the one way to make the class enjoy during the discussion. The learners also become an active participant engaged in learning a behavior or in applying previously acquired skills or knowledge. We use models, mock ups, specimens, and object to overcome limitations of space and time, to edit reality for us to be able to focus on parts that we intend to study, to overcome difficulties of size, to understand the inaccessible, and help the learners understand abstractions.
TEACHING WITH DRAMATIZED EXPERIENCE
In this lesson, teaching with dramatized experience, we can get strategies in order to get the attention of your listeners. If the teaching strategy of the teacher is dramatic, the students get attracted, interested and affected, it has a big impact to the students. Dramatized experiences are the formal plays, pageants, tableau, pantomime, puppets and role playing. In this lesson, we can also know the types of puppets and what are their uses. We can also know how to make the different puppets. Dramatic experiences cater to students’ multiple intelligence. With these dramatic experiences. It cannot be implemented by individuals alone, it should have a team to come up with a play, a pageant, tableau, pantomime, a puppet show and role playing. These dramatic experiences have a great role in catching the students’ attention and teach them to interact and collaborate with their peers.
TEACHING WITH VISUAL SYMBOLS
In this lesson, teaching with visual symbols, we will discover the world of symbols. In teaching with visual symbols, we don’t see real things but symbols. The visual symbols include drawings, strip drawings, cartoons, diagrams, charts, graphs, formulas, maps and globes. With the help of these visual symbols, it is easily for us to teach because they can see or picture out symbols. Just like in drawing, we should present a drawing that is correctly represents the real thing to avoid confusions. The visual symbol can bring novelty to our teaching, the symbolism conveys the message. With these visual symbols, it can really be a big help for the teachers in teaching their students because it can catch the attention of your learners. These also serve as motivation in your lesson, it can also be given as an activity for students to express insights gained at the conclusion of a lesson. We can do these visual symbols in our own creativity. We can also use these visual symbols in summarizing our topics and also to compare and contrast. The preparation, collection and use of these various visual symbols depend to a great extent on your own resourcefulness and creativity. It can be used in different ways and in different phases of the lesson depending on your purpose. If the teacher uses them skillfully, the classroom may turn into a beehive of busy students.
