LESSON 2
TECHNOLOGY: BOON OR BANE?
Nowadays, almost all of us use technology even our kids for today are now using technology. Many breaking news had reported that many of our young ones and youth for today was addicted of using technology such as computers and cellphones that may harm and influence them in making or doing bad things. Many crimes occurred through the use of technology. With this, I was really confused, is the technology a boon or bane? But this lesson enlightened my mind and answered my uestion. Technology is a blessing for man. With technology, there is a lot that we can do which we could not do then. It makes us closer to someone miles and miles away from us. Many human lives saved because of speedy notifications via cellphones. It also contributes much to the improvement of the teaching-learning process and to the humanization of life. However, when not used properly, technology become a determent to learning and development. Technology become a cursed depend on how we used it. If we abused and misused it will surely contribute to our ruin and downfall and those of other persons.
I conclude that technology is not really a bane or cursed but it is a blessing depends on how we used and manipulate it.
LESSON 3
ROLES OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY IN LEARNING
Educational technology plays an important role in learning. Technology serves as a delivery vehicles for instructional lessons and a partner in the learning process. The learner learn from the technology and the technology serves as a teacher. Technology helps the learner build more meaningful personal interpretations of life on his/her world. Technology is a learning tool to learn with, not from. It serves as medium in representing what the learner knows and what he/she is learning. It serves as a source and presenter of knowledge. Most of all it increases student's learning, understanding and achievement but also augments motivation to learn, encourages collaborative learning and supports the development of critical thinking and problem solving skills.
LESSON 7
DIRECT PURPOSEFUL EXPERIENCES
There is a saying that says " Experience is the best teacher". One could easily understand and learned if they really experience it or there is an actual or hands on experience of a thing. And through this the lessons or things that have been told and discussed will retain on the minds of the learners. And also as outed as " an ounce of experience is better than a ton of theory" because it is only in experience that any theory has vital and verifiable significance. So direct purposeful experiences as instructional materials is the most real in Dale's Cone of experience . This are the rich experiences that our senses bring from which we construct the ideas, the concepts, the generalizations that give meaning and order to our lives. Through direct purposeful experience, it let us learn by doing and immerse us in the world of experience, let us make use of real things as instructional materials and develop our way of thinking.
LESSON 8
DEMONSTRATION IN TEACHING
As an education students we have done a lot of demonstration for the preparation of becoming a teacher someday. A demonstration as one of the effective instructional materials is very helpful in teaching. Demonstration is showing how a thing is done and emphasizing of the salientments utility and efficiency of a concept, a method or a process or an attitude. To have a good demonstration one must establish rapport, make your audience feel at ease, avoid the coil fallacy, the demonstrator must assumed that the audience has zero knowledge, knows nothing or a little about the topic and lastly, watch for the key points. A good demonstrator is an audio-visual presentation. It is not enough that you are just talking in front but must be accompanied by some visuals. And one reminder in demonstration is " do not hurry your demonstration". Don’t be too fast in demonstrating just take time because not all your audience can easily catch up.
Lesson 11:
Making the most of community resources and field trips
Field trip offers an excellent bridge between the work of the school and the work of the world outside. It abolishes the wall that divides the classroom and the outside world. It connects people. It may be a visit to a scenic spot or to historical places such as museum and zoo. Even though education field trips are costly and require time for preparation and planning, we can deny the fact that it contributes much in the learning process, considering the intensity and extents of concrete experiences that comes through field trips and it is equally effective instructional tool. It can be fun and educational when they are well executed. It gives opportunities for rich and memorable experiences which are fundamental to learning that lasts. And most of all, it brings a lot of realization which may lead to change attitudes and insights.
